Every term a new K-pop fan needs. From bias to OT# to maknae — speak fluent fan.
Bias
Your favorite member of a group — the one who catches your eye and heart. Take the quiz to find your personality-matched bias.
Bias wrecker
The member who keeps threatening to steal your bias's #1 spot. The one who makes you question your loyalty.
Ult / Ultimate
Your all-time #1 bias across every group — the one who sits above all others.
Stan
To be a devoted fan of an idol or group. 'I stan BTS' = I'm a committed fan.
OT#
'One True' + the number of members — stanning the WHOLE group. 'OT7 BTS' means you love all seven equally, no single bias.
Bias list
Your ranked favorite member from each group you follow. Build yours on your My Bias profile.
Leader
The member who speaks for the group, leads practices, and represents them publicly. Often (not always) the oldest.
Maknae
The youngest member of the group. Often doted on by the others — the 'baby' of the group.
Visual
The member officially positioned as the group's 'face' for their looks. Subjective in practice — every fan has their own visual.
Main / Lead / Sub
Skill tiers within a role. 'Main vocalist' sings the hardest parts; 'Lead' supports; 'Sub' covers the rest. Same for dancer/rapper.
Debut
A group's first official release — the moment they're introduced to the world. Triggers a huge fan-formation rush.
Comeback
Not a return from hiatus — a new release + promotional cycle. Every comeback brings new music, concept photos, and performances.
Title track
The lead single of an album — the song with the music video and promotions. The 'face' of the comeback.
B-side
The non-title tracks on an album. Often where fans find hidden gems deeper than the single.
Repackage
A re-released album with new tracks added — usually after the original's promotion cycle ends.
Mini album / EP
A short release (3-5 songs). Most comebacks are mini albums, not full albums.
Killing part
The most memorable moment of a song — the hook, dance break, or high note that sticks in your head.
Ending fairy
The member the camera focuses on at the end of a music show performance. A highly coveted moment.
Photocard (PC)
A small collectible photo card of a member, included in physical albums. Fans trade, collect, and chase rare ones.
Fancam
A fan-recorded video focused on a single member during a performance. The engine of bias discovery on social media.
Aegyo
A display of cute, childlike charm. Idols do 'aegyo' on variety shows; fans melt.
Streaming / voting
Coordinated fan efforts to boost a group's chart position or win awards. The 'work' side of stan culture.
Lightstick
The official concert light for each group — a glowing wand that syncs via Bluetooth. Each group has a unique design.
Fandom name
The official name for a group's fanbase — ARMY (BTS), BLINK (BLACKPINK), MOA (TXT), etc.
Ship / shipping
When fans pair two members together romantically — usually as a fun 'what if,' not serious. Common in every fandom.
Selca
Korean word for 'selfie.' Idols post selcas on social media to connect with fans.
Trainee
A pre-debut idol in training at an agency. Trainees practice singing, dancing, and language for years before debuting.
Agency
The entertainment company that manages a group — like HYBE, SM, JYP, YG. The 'Big 4' dominate the industry.
Concept
The visual and musical theme of a comeback — cute, girl crush, dark, elegant, retro. Each era has a distinct concept.
Daesang
The 'Grand Prize' at major award shows like MAMA or MMA. Winning a daesang is the highest group achievement.
Sub-unit
A smaller group within a group — like SNSD-TTS or EXO-CBX. Lets members showcase different styles.
Center
The member positioned in the middle during group choreography. Often switches per song or era.
Hallyu
The 'Korean Wave' — the global spread of Korean culture (K-pop, K-dramas, food). K-pop is its biggest driver.
Music show win
Winning #1 on weekly music shows like Music Bank, Inkigayo, or M Countdown. A career-defining milestone for any group.
Generation
K-pop eras defined by debut year: 1st (2000s), 2nd (2005-12), 3rd (2013-18), 4th (2019-22), 5th (2023+). Each has distinct sounds and styles.
Fan meeting
An in-person event where fans meet idols, play games, and take photos together. More intimate than a concert — and often harder to get tickets for.
You know the words — now meet the idol who matches your personality.
